PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The intervention aims at the construction of the networks for the collection, conveyance, treatment, and sea discharge of rainwater in the common areas of the Port of Taranto, in addition to the sewage network in the eastern area (zona di levante). The rainwater system was designed to capture and convey critical rainfall with a return period of T_R=10$ years, ensuring the treatment of the entire first flush flow via a passive separation system. The treatment plants, equipped with filters, are dimensioned to purify over 85% of the total stormwater runoff over the course of a year, which will then be discharged into the sea through 11 outfalls. For the collection of domestic wastewater, a vacuum system has been adopted, utilizing small-diameter PVC pipes. The management of this system will be supported by software for the remote control of service functions, emergencies, and scheduled maintenance.
