The project entails the partial demolition of the existing school and the reconstruction of a new, three-story building dimensioned for approximately 600 students on the same site, maintaining the gymnasium and administrative block to ensure educational continuity through phased intervention; the new structure features a single, highly-glazed ground-floor plate for workshops and an exhibition space, connected by two wings (library and main auditorium) to the administrative block (hosting the gipsoteca on the ground floor), with two staggered upper volumes containing classrooms and laboratories set upon the base, structurally composed of a reinforced concrete (R.C.) basement on a raft foundation and seismically joined above-ground bodies constructed using both R.C. and the XLAM cross-laminated timber system.
