The redevelopment project will transform the Bergamo Sports Arena (Palazzetto dello Sport), which dates back to the 1960s, into the new headquarters of the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery (GAMeC), starting in 2026.

The intervention involves the complete transformation of the interior spaces: while maintaining the external elliptical shape, the stands (bleachers) will be demolished to dedicate the entire space to museum activities and artistic expression. The new GAMeC, which will be situated at a strategic point in the city, will feature exhibition halls that assume significant structural importance and will present a peculiar configuration, being suspended above the ground floor.

A glass-fronted bar/restaurant will be located on the terrace of the new building, offering a new panoramic viewpoint over the city of Bergamo.
