The project is framed within the strategic railway infrastructure established by the Objective Law No. 443/01, concerning the High-Speed/High-Capacity (AV/AC) “Terzo Valico dei Giovi” section.

This railway section is essential for connecting the Genoa junction (Fegino rail link area) with the Tortona rail yard. The specific lot (section) in question, which is part of the open-air track, is located in the municipalities of Novi Ligure, Pozzolo Formigaro, and Tortona (Province of Alessandria).

The civil works consist of a succession of cuttings (tranches) and embankments of modest height. Their construction requires the resolution of innumerable interferences present in the territory, such as road networks (viability), the irrigation grid, and other utilities/entities.
