PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The railway line speed enhancement project is based on increasing the superelevation on curves and implementing six alignment variations, including two main variations of approximately 1km each in the Municipality of Amato. These variations include embankments and two viaducts (one 550m long and one 350m long).
Variation No. 5 (350m) involves the relocation of Provincial Road SP 167/1, which has been interrupted since 2010 due to a bridge collapse, and the construction of a new 50m road viaduct over the Cancello stream, in addition to a railway underpass.
Variation No. 7 (550m), consisting of 21 spans of 25m with embankments of approximately 9m, reaches an average height of 10-12m. For this variation, the advanced deep mixing soil ground consolidation technique is adopted, involving 4,900 perforations up to 15m deep, upon which 150sqm foundation plinths will rest. The decks will be constructed with prefabricated box girder beams for the single-track line.
In parallel, secondary interventions are planned, which include the demolition and reconstruction of 29 hydraulic culverts with new segmented structures, and the complete renewal of the railway superstructure and track work along the affected section.
