The Executive Project is aimed at resolving the hydraulic insufficiency and hygienic-sanitary criticalities of a specific area of the Palermo sewerage system, particularly in the areas of Via Trabucco, Inserra, Cruillas, and surrounding streets. The main objective is twofold: to eliminate the frequent flooding that plagues the area and to drastically improve the conditions of the Mortillaro channel by preventing the direct discharge of wastewater from homes. The intervention involves the replacement and construction of new sewer sections to create a unified network. The fundamental technical element of the project is the installation of three first-flush separators (named Sfioratore Piazza Lampada, Sfioratore Via Vanvitelli, and Sfioratore Viale Michelangelo) which will ensure more efficient water management. These separators will separate stormwater from wastewater and, thanks to a suspended tank, will convey the first-flush water into the lines designated for blackwater flows only, thereby improving the quality of the final effluent and preventing backflow in the pipeline during heavy rainfall. In addition to the new sewer lines, the project also includes the replacement of the water supply network and superimposed AMAP equipment that could be damaged during the works.
