The CBK Project consists of the building, rehabilitation, operation and transfer (BROT) of the hydroelectric plants of Caliraya, Botocan and Kalayaan, located in the Province of Laguna. The project mainly comprises the construction of Kalayaan Pumped-Sotrage Plant Stage II, consisting in two pump-turbines of 177.5 MW each, housed in a shaft pit of about 35m diameter and 46.5m deep and the rehabilitation and upgrading of Kalayaan Pumpd-Storage Plant Stage I, consisting in two pumped-turbines of 150 MW each. Works included also the rehabilitation of the existing Caliraya Hydroelectric Power Plant consisting of a 1.850m long tunnel, a power intake, and a surfaced powerhouse with two new vertical Francis turbines of 16 MW each; the rehabilitation of the existing Botocan Hydropower Plant, consisting of a gravity dam 31m high, a power intake and a surface powerhouse with two new vertical Francis turbines of 10 MW each and the construction of the Caliraya spillway with capacity of 500 m3/sec.
