The work is part of the Yintao Water Supply Project, comprising more than 200 km of tunnels. Tunnel #9 has a length of 18,3 km, an excavation diameter of 5,75 meters and a finished diameter of 4,96 meters. The tunnel is executed using a NFM double shield Tunnel Boring Machine for the excavation and the subsequent lining made up of precast segments. Worth mentioning a daily excavation record of 68.95m achieved on May 24, 2010 and superseded by a record of 86.71m achieved on September 13, 2010. The project is located in the province of Gansu, 130 km far from the town of Lanzhou, where Cmc already executed, at the end of eighties, the Yindaruqin Irrigation Project. Since then Cmc has been working in the People’s Republic of China executing more than 160 km of several hydraulic tunnels using the same technology.
