The 1st Lot of the new water purification plant, called Trento 3 Purification Plant, located in Acquaviva – south of Trento – will serve the municipalities of Besenello, Calliano, Aldeno, Cimone, Garniga and Trento, particularly the villages of Romagnano and Mattarello.
The purification plant will include a high-performance biological clarification treatment system for the wastewater coming from the city sewage system and will have a capacity of 150,000 AE (1st Lot), which can be further increased in the future (2nd Lot) to achieve 300,000 AE overall.

The project also involves the detour of the existing state road SS 12, to move it away from the mountain side and to make room for the purification plant building and the related facilities. This road modification  implies the demolition of the existing state road SS 12 and the construction of an approximately 1 km long new road stretch, with a 10.50 m large road platform and embankments of various heights, up to 6 m.
