PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Massingir Dam is a 48 m high zoned embankment dam with a crest length of 4 600 m and is located on the Elephants River, a tributary of the Limpopo River in the Southern Gaza province of Mozambique.

The spillway gates and associated hydro-mechanical and electrical equipment was installed during a rehabilitation contract for Massingir Dam between 2004 and 2006.

Scope of Works is the rehabilitation of the bottom outlet works of Massingir Dam, the construction of surface and subsurface drainage systems related to both the Outlet Works and the embankment, the construction of Dam safety related works, the rehabilitation of Dam instrumentation, hydro-mechanical, mechanical and electrical works. Furthermore the rehabilitation, repairing and maintaining existing houses and buildings of the Employer, the construction of 04 new houses, 1 office and 1 meeting room and upgrading access road.

The Contractor is also requested to repair and maintain the existing Water Supply System and to build new water supply and distribution  system for the Town of Massingir.
